Welcome to Gatehouse Carpet and Upholstery Cleaners. Started in 1993, Gatehouse Carpet and Upholstery Cleaners has traded continuously ever since. We are proud to be one of the few companies in this business to concentrate on carpet and upholstery cleaning and stain guarding in the Furness and South Lakes area. CLEANING METHODS We use the hot water extraction method of cleaning (often mistakenly called steam cleaning). This is the most effective method of cleaning carpets and most upholstery, giving a truly deep clean. A hot solution of specialist detergent and de-odouriser is sprayed into and vacuumed out of the item in one action . This cleans to the base of the pile , removing deeper soiling than buffing or "dry" cleaning methods and leaves carpets only slightly damp (normally dry in around one hour ) The process also removes more than 90% of dust mites - one of the major irritants to asthma sufferers. In April 2006 we upgraded our machinery to a "NINJA" made by Ashby's of London . This has further reduced drying times due to the increased heat , spray pressure and vacuum that these machines supply . STAIN GUARDING We use water-based stain guard solutions which is non-toxic and non-flammable. This makes normal vacuum cleaning of carpets and upholstery easy! CONVENIENCE Although it is much easier to clean a carpet in an empty room, we understand this is not usually possible and are happy to move most items of furniture around so we can clean the whole area. If there is any doubt about furniture marking the carpet we leave protectors under the castors or feet. We are located in Barrow and operate throughout the whole of the surrounding area, including Kendal and the South Lakes area.
